CQC support for Liverpool care providers: registration, policies, audits and editable tools
Updated: Oct 11
If you run a care home, domiciliary care service or supported living service in Liverpool, start with the regulated activities you deliver, the people you support, and the evidence that shows how your service works. CQC's rules apply across England. Looking Glass Care provides remote support to providers in Liverpool and elsewhere in England; our correspondence address is in Suffolk. We do not present the remote service as an on-site Liverpool inspection.
This guide answers common questions about registration, personalised policies, inspection preparation, documentation and editable tools. It links directly to current CQC guidance, our actual services and product pages.
How do I prepare for CQC registration?
First identify whether the activities you intend to carry on require registration. The label “supported living” or “home care” alone does not decide this. CQC's register as a provider guide sets out the England application route; its statement of purpose guidance explains what the service does, where and for whom. Check the current forms and supporting-document list for your applicant type and service before submitting.
Use our free regulated activities guide to frame the questions. If you want to discuss the evidence and documents you need to organise, book a free 30-minute consultation. Looking Glass Care provides practical preparation support; CQC decides registration.
How do I create personalised care policies?
Start with what actually happens in your service: the regulated activities, resident or client group, staffing, local safeguarding contacts, escalation arrangements, medicines support, record system and named policy owner. Map each policy to its purpose, legal duties and practical steps; involve staff and people receiving care. Give it an approval date, review trigger and evidence of use. An editable template still needs local review and implementation.
Our Policy or Procedure Review is a one-hour remote review of one selected document (£35). The Annual Policy Review Schedule Toolkit is an editable Word download (£5.85). For a specific topic, browse the Safeguarding Adults and Children Policy, Care Planning and Risk Assessment Policy and Audit and Monitoring Policy. Check each product's scope, format and licence before purchase.
How should a Liverpool care home prepare for a CQC assessment?
CQC's assessment framework asks whether a service is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Gather a balanced sample of records and talk with residents, relatives and staff about their actual experience. Check care plans against daily practice, medicines and risk records, staffing and supervision, complaints, incidents, infection prevention, and the actions taken when an audit found a gap. Show how you followed up and whether anything improved.
CQC Regulation 17 good governance guidance calls for effective systems to assess, monitor and improve quality and safety, keep accurate records, hear feedback and act on risks. Our free residential care checklist can help you choose a sample. A checklist is a starting point, not evidence that a service is compliant.
Where can I get a mock inspection or audit?
Be specific about the scope you need. Our £249 Compliance Snapshot reviews an agreed sample and includes preparation plus a one-hour remote discussion of urgent gaps and priority actions. It is a focused snapshot, not a full inspection or whole-service audit. Our £495 Care Provider Compliance Review adds a pre-review questionnaire, agreed evidence review, one-hour remote meeting, written priority action plan and one follow-up call. If you need a whole-service mock inspection, ask in a free call about scope and availability before making assumptions about either package.
For your own repeatable audits, the Care Provider Compliance Starter Bundle combines an editable self-audit pack and evidence tracker (£9.95). The Care Plan Audit Toolkit and Medication Audit Toolkit are separate editable downloads (£5.85 each). Review the sample pages and contents on the product pages.
Where do I find documentation and governance tools for home care or supported living?
For domiciliary care, track visits, people's outcomes, medicines support, complaints, incidents, supervision and follow-up actions in your own systems. Our free community care checklist helps frame a review. The CQC Evidence Tracker Toolkit and Quality and Governance Meeting Pack help organise actions, owners and review dates. You can also book CQC Evidence Folder Setup for an agreed folder structure and implementation guidance.
For supported living, start with the person's home, choice, tenancy boundaries and the regulated personal care provided. Use the free supported living checklist, then adapt governance tools to the real service. A policy library or generic paperwork pack cannot replace personalised care, staff competence or a working quality system.
