Care worker induction checklist for the 2025 Care Certificate
Updated: Oct 11
The Care Certificate standards were updated in March 2025 and now contain 16 standards. A manager's record should show what the worker knows and can do in the actual role, not only that online learning was completed.
Checklist
Review the role, service duties, prior learning and any adjustments needed.
Plan learning against all 16 current standards, including learning disability and autism.
Record assessed knowledge and observed practice for each relevant criterion.
Check role-appropriate practical basic life support training.
Check role-specific competence before unsupervised duties.
Agree supervision, feedback, outstanding gaps and a review date.
Next step
Use the official standards and assessor guidance. Keep evidence securely and ensure a competent assessor checks the relevant knowledge and performance criteria.
